I used to never care about my lips. I never thought they needed moisturizer or any type of exfoliation. That was the case until I found myself spending more time in a hospital and less time outside. My skin went from a fountain of moisture to a dry piece of toast. I had to make some really drastic changes to my skin. Caring for my lips was new to me and I found myself looking for products that would last longer than just a few months.

I stumble across a brand called Nurse Jamie. What’s really cool about this brand is a nurse and a doctor are behind all the wonderful magic. Basically you are getting effective medical spa services at prices you can afford. Lets be honest a reusable lip exfoliator is really great on the wallet.

The NULIPS RX MOISTURIZING LIP BALM & EXFOLIATING LIP BRUSH is a system to plump your lips for that perfect pout we are all looking for. In the kit you get an anti-microbial silicone lip brush to exfoliate your lips and a all natural lip balm that is petroleum free and has hyaluronic acid to plump those lips.

I am not sure if I have noticed any lip plumping but my lips are softer, smoother and less dry toast like. They feel super moisturized in the morning and look healthy. I really love the idea of the reusable lip exfoliator.

In the past two months I feel like all I have done is shopped. Im not complaining but my wallet sure is. Here are a bunch of recent repurchases and new purchases to my makeup stash!

Charolette Tilbury is one of my favorite makeup artists. Her products just work. I have yet to come across something I haven’t fallen in love with. I have been searching for a new mascara for some time and figured I would give Full Fat Lashes in Glossy Black a shot. So far I loving the results! I also needed a new eyelash curler so I picked up the Life Changing Lashes in Rose Gold.

I keep hearing people talk about the Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer and its amazing effects. Fingers crossed it works! My mom actually bought me the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette, go Mom! It’s a wonderful mix of dark shades and brighter shades to give you the perfect smoky eye.

I also picked up some staples such as the Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer in Milk Chocolate which is perfect for us pale ladies! I also always have a Fresh Lip Balm in Rose in my bag. I have like ten of these lying around the house. I find its super natural and gives the lips a little bit of color. I always try to get a new beauty blender every so often. After about 6 months with washing them they still get a little gross. No one wants a bacteria sponge haha.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. All the wonderful colors, sweaters, and of course football. If you did not know I am a huge football fan and I do enjoy a little tailgating with friends however, tailgating usually involves a lot of unhealthy food. Thanks to Chobani that’s all changing!

Introducing the new MEZE drip range! With a variety of flavors to pick from you can be the life of the tailgate with this healthy dip. I always struggle a bit with what to pair with dips because let’s be honest chips are not the healthiest item. I recently bought a bag of the mini sweet peppers and figured I would try it together. Basically an explosion occurred in my mouth and in the best way! The sweet of the pepper and the tang of the dip makes the perfect combo! Plus, if your looking for healthier options at those fun tailgates peppers and yogurt dip are a great choice! Here are some other great ideas instead of those chips!

So say goodbye to the unwanted calories and say hello to a healthy, flavorful, and fun dip! Perfect for any event you may be going to this season! If you are interested in finding out more about these yummy dips check out Chobani Meze Dips.

Blueberry Lime Yogurt Cake

I cannot believe it is about to be September already. I’m not complaining though; I love the fall but I do enjoy the produce that comes with summer. I recently went to a blueberry farm near my house and gathered way too many blueberries and figured this would be a perfect time to try out a new cake! Say hello to my new favorite summer cake: The Blueberry Lime Yogurt Cake!

I made a small version of this cake only because I can never finish a big cake by myself but you can make this in a variety of sizes. I used a recipe from BBC to make this but made a few minor changes.

For the cake:

1 cup butter, at room temperature

1 1/2 cup sugar

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 Tbsp. organic lime zest (2 large limes)

3 large eggs

1/3 cup fresh-squeezed lime juice (2 large limes, use the same ones you grated)

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

For the Blueberry Filling

3 Cups Fresh or Frozen Blueberries

2 Tbsp flour

3 Tbsp lime juice

1/4 cup cane sugar

For the Frosting

2 packages 8 oz cream cheese, at room temperature

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 1/2 cup icing sugar

Prepare the blueberry filling first because it will need to cool before putting it on the cake. In a small pot mix the flour, lime juice, sugar and blueberries. Heat to a simmer on medium for about 5 to 10 minutes or until sauce is thick and turned translucent.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time and beat after each. In another bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In another bowl mix together the yogurt, lime juice, and lime zest. Once all mixed together add 1/3 of the dry and wet ingredients at a time until fully combined. The dough should be thick and not watery.

Add the batter to your baking pans, making sure to grease or coat with butter to prevent sticking. Bake at 350F for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Let the cake cool completely before frosting.

To prepare the cream cheese frosting, whip cream cheese and sugar until smooth and silky. Once finished you can assemble your cake. I decided to do an open faced cake because I love seeing the layers. I placed the cream cheese on the middle layer and then the blueberry filling on top. However, you can assemble this however you like!

I have commitment issues with mascara. I have admitted it and I’m pretty sure a bunch of you can relate. I feel like I am on a never ending search for the perfect mascara.

Recently I was in the mall and found myself at the Clinique counter and of course checking out the mascara. I heard a few bloggers talk about the Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara and after a few minutes of inner arguments I decided I needed it. On first use I was impressed, not only are my lashes fuller but longer and well defined. I don’t know if I would go as far to say they are dramatic but personally for everyday wear I am very happy with it. I am still trying this guy out but I will keep you updated if he gets me to commit to a long term mascara relationship!

Let me know what mascaras you have been loving!

My number one question about beauty related things is usually what I wear everyday. I’ll be honest I have no time in the morning to do a whole face of makeup. Here is my  quick and easy make up routine!

One of my all time favorite foundations is BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Gel Cream which evens out my skin tone perfectly and is super light on the skin.  Since starting school my dark circles have truly become a battle of mine and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer is amazing! It covers up even my darkest of circles!

I don’t spend much time on my brows during the weekday mostly because I have been recently tinting them which saves me tons of time in the morning! I usually use a coat or two of Benefits Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in Blonde which keeps them in place all day. With summer around the corner I figured a waterproof mascara was necessary. I recently picked up Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in Waterproof and have become completely obsessed with it! It’s the original formula but with no smudging!

I don’t contour on a daily basis but I do put a little bronzer on my face to give it a little dimension with Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Powder in Medium. I love the instant glow I receive from using this. I love blush and it does wonders to make me look somewhat alive. NARS Blush Oasis is perfect to keep those cheeks looking healthy and natural! Its not to pink and not too intense. Finally, I always carry Fresh’s Sugar Tinted Lip Balm in Rose which is perfect for everyday use. I never feel like I am wearing lipstick when I have this on.

Let me know what your favorite products are for during the week!

I have been on an Estee Lauder kick recently. I always think of Estee Lauder as the “ Classy “  makeup brand. I was looking around Nordstrom recently and passed by the counter. Of course a few things caught my eye. Here are some of the things I bought!

Bronze Goddess was the main reason I even walked past the counter at Nordstrom. I kept hearing great things and let’s be honest I had to buy it. I find it gives a wonderful glow to the skin and still looks super natural. Another product I kept hearing wonderful things about Double WearBrush-on Glow BB Highlighter. This amazing guy helps brighten, conceal, and highlight. I have been using this as an under eye concealer for those days where I need a bit of extra help. The results of this guy is amazing! I have yet to experience I bad makeup day with this!

Sometimes we have those “pure whim” purchases and the Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara was one for me. I have only been using this for a week now but holy moly is this amazing! It separates each lash and still gives a dramatic look! Another whim purchase was the Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup. Some days I am running out the door and have zero time to apply foundation. This is when a powder foundation comes in handy. I have been on the hunt for the perfect one and I may have found it! This powder foundation is super long-wearing, creaseless, and blends evenly into the skin.

Recently my life has become a series of all nighters for exams. I feel at this point I am a bit of an expert on how to look and feel amazing the next day. I was inspired by Casper to give you some of my secrets to not feeling that all nighter. They have made a mattress that conforms to your body but doesn’t allow all that sinkage that other memory foams have! Here are some of my favorite things to help the all nighter look.

If I have been up all night I am usually pretty groggy and need a wake me up. I find the Origins GinZing Facial Wash and LUSH HAPPY HIPPY shower gel, give me a boost of energy. Both contain wonderful citrus scents that really help wake you up. Perfect to clear up that cloudy mind.

I don’t know about anyone else but brushing my teeth has become a serious addiction and staying up all night only makes me want to brush them more! I have been loving the CREST 3D White Toothpaste. My mouth feels clean and happy. I always think fresh teeth help you get A’s!

When you are up all night studying you will probably have some serious bags. I love the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer and the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit. I can honestly cover up even the darkest of circles with these guys.

I may be tired but I could never leave the house without a little mascara. I find it really gives your face that alive look. I have fallen completely in love with the BUXOM Lash Mascara. It gives intense volume and separates each lash without getting all clumpy!

Nothing says all nighter like being dehydrated. After a night of studying and chugging coffee you need some hydration. I always fill up a tumbler of lemon water. This always helps me feel human and not to sleepy.

Let me know your secrets to an all nighter!

My skin has been so dry. I am oily by nature but this winter has been brutal on my skin. I went into Kiehl’s in hopes of finding something and was immediately drawn to the Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm. This just sounded hydrating to me and at this point I was desperate for anything that would help.

Kiehl’s did it again with an amazing product. This stuff is amazing. It leaves a soft, smooth and velvet like barrier to the skin. It is formulated with high levels of glycerin to help retain moisture. Then they went a step further and added Edelweiss flower extract to help lock in hydration. After using this my skin felt calm, soft, and soothed. This has quickly become one of my favorite hydrating night creams for winter!

What are your favorite hydrating products?

When are you first starting out with makeup it can feel overwhelming and expensive. I am always on the look out for multiple use products. It makes everything easier and cheaper! The eyeshadows are so pigmented and creamy it is not a secret why Bobbi Brown is an amazing brand. Plus the inside has a helpful step by step process on how to achieve the perfect smokey eye.
